Let me introduce you to the newest in-home predator.
Lurking in the kitchen, the Smelly Monster sneaks in and debilitates it's prey by causing horrific allergic reactions such as: sore throat, wheezing, difficulty breathing, coughing, choking on your own throat. (Dun, dun, dun.)
What is this Smelly Monster?
The Trader Joe's Cinnamon Broom.

{Source}It may seem innocent but, the Cinnamon Broom attacks at night. It's sleeping victims never even stand a chance...
As harmless as it appears and as pretty as it smells (it really does smell wonderful - I highly recommend it for those NOT allergic to cinnamon oil), the Cinnamon Broom will infiltrate the air in your home and attack before you even realize what is happening. Putting it outside is no match to the Cinnamon Broom-Smelly Monster as you will still be subjected to the aroma of the cinnamon oil when you leave the house to do such things as: get into your car, take out the garbage, come home from work.
No - in all seriousness, I had no idea that I was this allergic to cinnamon oil until I put the broom in my kitchen. I had smelled it when I walked into TJ's the other day and was overwhelmed with the pretty, Christmas-y like scent - so, I bought one. I wanted my house to smell pretty like Christmas, too.
I should have known last week when I had to ask someone to remove a cinnamon-y smelling reed diffuser that I was allergic to cinnamon oil. But, nooooo...instead, I brought this stinky broom of death into my home and, even after having put it outside for over 30 hours - am still feeling like it's wrapped around my throat, causing me to not be able to breathe. Sucks.
It also sucks, because - as I said - it smells GOOD (until you start choking on it). I am hoping that after it spends some time outdoors this week, I will be able to bring it back inside, all ready to make my house smell like Christmas and not suffocating myself in my sleep.
Ahhhh...don't you just wish you were me (please note the sarcasm there)???

Smelly Monster lived at my house once upon a time. Now he resides elsewhere.......if you know what I mean!
The one I have came from Cracker Barrel and his scent is long gone...well...except when I dab a lil' cinnamon oil on him. It's mostly for show, now.
I know what you mean about the scent being quite overpowering, though...whew!
Just in case....you better have an Epipen on hand. If you are having problems breathing.....I recommend not bringing it back in. Just a little cut-rate medical advice. Allergies like that don't go away just because the item has been aired out. Be careful.
What a bummer! Nothings hides the stink of my english bulldog so I don;t even try.
I LOVE the smell of pine but I'm definitely sensitive to it. Yet, I torture myself with candles, wreaths and oils.
*sigh*
Boo! I hope you get to feeling better!
